GENERAL MEDICINE
General Medicine is the most extensive study program at the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, and it spans six years. The first three years are dedicated to theoretical and preclinical programs, while the second half of the curriculum focuses on clinical subjects.
The study program follows recommended study plans, which are based on program accreditation. Nevertheless, there is continuous evaluation of the content and structure of these plans to reflect the evolving knowledge and the opinions of both teachers and students.
In addition to mandatory courses, students are required to enroll in elective subjects to achieve the normal credit load. Elective subjects are regularly analyzed and updated to meet changing demands. Completion of elective courses is contingent on fulfilling specific theoretical and practical requirements. Currently, the faculty offers students a choice of over 400 elective subjects.
DENTISTRY
Our innovative dental education enables students to gain hands-on experience in practical procedures while maintaining the high standards of general medical knowledge. The teaching of preclinical dental subjects, which are included in the first and second years, takes place in three simulator classrooms. Clinical dental subjects are taught in dedicated classrooms within the Dean's office building, while the instruction of general medical subjects occurs at various clinics and departments located within the premises of the General Faculty Hospital, Motol University Hospital, and the Central Military Hospital.
The focus of our clinical dental education is on comprehensive dental care. To ensure the effective instruction of students in higher years, a sufficient number of suitable patients are provided.
ADDICTOLOGY
The First Faculty of Medicine is excited to introduce a new Master's degree program in Addictology. Addictology is a field of study dedicated to the understanding, prevention, origins, treatment, research, counseling, and various aspects related to addiction. In a more specific context, it focuses on substance-related dependencies. Clinical Addictology narrows its scope to working directly with clients.
This program is designed to accommodate both students and professionals who hold a Bachelor's degree in Addictology and seek to further enhance their skills and knowledge in this field. However, even if you come from a different academic background, you are still welcome to apply if you have a genuine interest in the subject.
